Cruet Set refers to a small container or set of containers for salt, pepper and other table condiments for use at a dining table at the time of eating meal.
In French, Cruet means – petit flacon (small bottle), and Cruet Set – service á condiments (condiment set). Often, there would be a separate stand; complete with a handle and feet, and the standard number of vessels was four (though often there were more).
In modern days, cruet set becomes limited to two containers, containing table salt and pepper powder.
